Community members attended an open house on March 20 about transportation plans along the E. Riverside corridor, emphasizing the importance of transportation options for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders and drivers. Locally in Austin, the MetroRail connecting downtown Austin to Leander, has spurred some $90 million in private investment, according to Capital Metro.

Austin City Council approved a deal on March 1 with Capital Metro to fund additional MetroRail service on Fridays and Saturdays beginning March 23. Trains will run hourly on Friday evenings from 7 p.m. until midnight, and on Saturdays, every 35 minutes from 4 p.m. until midnight.
