The Austin Strategic Mobility Plan is designed to give you a voice in shaping Austin's transportation future. Here are some of the ways you can get involved with the ASMP and learn about what's been done so far — in person, in the community, and here at austinstrategicmobility.com.
As the ASMP team works on its projects for 2011 and beyond — including Urban Rail efforts, strategic corridor studies, partnerships with regional transportation agencies, and implementing the 2010 Mobility Bond — we'll be out in the community frequently to hear from you. We'll keep you posted right here of all upcoming opportunities for public involvement.
The ASMP can come to your neighborhood or community group to answer questions, get your input and give you the latest program information. E-mail to request a presentation. You can also find a library of previous presentations among the materials on our Resources page.
We' plan to keep using austinstrategicmobility.com as an important component of public engagement, sharing information and soliciting your feedback and insight. You can always connect with us via our contact page.
We have a Facebook page — "Austin Strategic Mobility Plan" — and we're on Twitter as @austinmobility. We're also using the #mobilityatx hashtag to help keep track of community conversations.
The city has already collected more than 3,000 needed projects that will help close gaps and unclog bottlenecks in Austin's transportation system. These gap projects have been identified not only by city staff, partners and technical experts but also by the general public and participants in the Imagine Austin comprehensive planning process. You can let the ASMP know anytime about a gap or bottleneck that needs to be fixed. E-mail to submit a gap project for consideration.
The City Council appointed a Citizens Task Force to review and make recommendations about future transportation projects and upcoming bond elections, including the November 2010 election. Learn more about the CTF here.
The ASMP held several rounds of community forums at locations throughout Austin. These forums gave Austinites the chance to work with their neighbors to tell what they and their communities need and want from the city's transportation system. We also conducted an online survey here at austinstrategicmobility.com.
